New to Reception 2025
Hello all!
We hope you find this page helpful for the September 2025 start.
Here are some helpful bits for the start of the school year...
First Day of School
Arriving at school:
Please wait by the green gate at the front of school (near Owls classroom).
Miss Crook will open the gate at 8:30am each morning to allow everyone into school.
Take your child to Owls classroom door. This is at the side of the building. Don't worry - we will make sure everything is signposted so you can find it all easily. Miss Dibble will be there to meet you all. She will show you all where to put coats, water bottles and bags.
We ask that parents refrain from entering the classroom - we would like to encourage the children's independence from the very first day and show them where to put their things. It also helps to reduce confusion and foot traffic in the class, allowing for a calm start to the day.
For the first few weeks, we would like the children to come straight into Owls class to settle with some calm activities. After this time, when they are feeling more confident, they can choose to go down to the playground with the other children.
At 8:45am, a bell sound and marks the start of registration and sessions. we ask that all parents leave site by this time. If your child is happily settled in class before 8:45am, you are free to leave then.
What do we bring?
Each day, we ask children to bring a water bottle (filled) and their reading book bag (when they've received it). If you have chosen for you child to not have a school dinner, please ensure they have a packed lunch.

FAQs
How do we make sure the children get milk? Do we need to sort anything for this?
We sort all of that for you. The children will automatically receive milk up to the age of 5 years old.
What should we do if someone new needs to collect my child from school?
We class all of the people on your emergency contact list as 'approved adults'. Should another approved person need to collect your child, you can let the class teacher or TA know in the morning or call the school who will pass the message on.
Can we leave wellies at school or do we have to take them home everyday?
You can leave them in school. There are welly racks outside of each classroom.
