Curriculum Intent:

“Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”– Michael Jordan

At Keinton Mandeville Primary School, we aim to provide a PE curriculum that pupils throughout the school, not only enjoy, but that also allows them to experience a range of activities that help them to develop their health, fitness and wellbeing.  Children develop the knowledge, skills and competence to participate, succeed and excel in a broad range of sports and physical activities. We aim to deliver high-quality teaching and learning opportunities that enable all children to achieve their personal best. We will offer opportunities to compete in sport and other activities, which build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect. Children participate in competitive sport via the Ansford Learning Partnership and beyond. We aim for all children to be physically active for sustained periods of time and be able to make informed decisions to lead healthy and active lives. Swimming is an important life skill; we aspire for all children to leave primary school being able to swim at least 25 metres.

The National Curriculum for PE aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
  • are physically active for sustained periods of time
  • engage in competitive sports and activities
  • lead healthy, active lives
