A Keinton mathematician Can
At Keinton Mandeville Primary School, we plan our maths teaching using the White Rose Maths exemplar planning. This provides a structured, organised and progressive programme of maths teaching. In our younger classes, we also use Number Sense, which is an early maths system focused on fluency and cementing number facts, to help build the children's confidence and fluency. Teachers also access a range of other maths programmes for additional support, including the NCETM (National Centre for Excellent Teaching of Maths) materials, which provide additional resources for support and challenge.
Curriculum Intent:
At Keinton Mandeville Primary School, we believe mathematics is a vital part of children’s development. We intend to help all children become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics. Our approach will help to develop conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply knowledge rapidly. The children will be able to reason and problem solve by applying mathematics to a variety of increasingly complex problems. Through their time at the school, lessons build upon children’s knowledge and understanding from Reception to Year 6. We aim to develop resilience that enables all children to reason and problem solve with increased confidence.
